Aftan is a wife, a mother, and advocate for her children. She greets the patients at Fontenot Family Dentistry with an amazing smile. She devotes her time and effort as a Scheduling Coordinator by helping patients receive the best customer care and satisfaction. She became part of this remarkable team in 2014. Her greatest passion is her family. As a dedicated mother, empathy and compassion are a big part of the job description. It is Aftan’s mission to treat patients with kindheartedness while delivering excellent service. The things she loves most in life are her husband, children, and faith in God. She is a hard worker, but has been known to play practical jokes on friends and coworkers. When she is not working, she likes to stay active by attending boot camp at Red’s in Lafayette. As a mother of a child with special needs, she values the importance of increasing awareness for people with disabilities by sponsoring the Annual Walk for Hope benefiting the Autism Society of Acadiana. Aftan lives in Breaux Bridge with her terrific husband, three amazing active children, and two dogs. “I have always found dentistry to be fascinating, and I couldn’t imagine having a career doing anything else. I absolutely love my job! My favorite part of working as a Scheduling Coordinator at Fontenot Family Dentistry is meeting people across the community. Also, I really enjoy working with my staff members because we have a lot of fun, and we’re close like family.”
Amanda joined Fontenot Family Dentistry in May of 2014. She completed two years at UL, followed by two years of hygiene school through LSU school of Dentistry. She received a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and was awarded second in her class. Amanda began working with Dr. Fontenot one week after graduation. She has always loved being social and enjoys getting to know her patients. She is from Opelousas, but moved to Lafayette when she began college. On her free time, Amanda enjoys being outdoors, traveling, riding bikes, and spending time with friends and family.
Emilie joined Fontenot Family Dentistry in January of 2016 after completing the Dental Assistant program at Acadiana Area Career College. She works alongside Dr. Fontenot during procedures and takes care of lab duties to ensure our patients get the very best. She enjoys making her patients feel comfortable and easing their dental anxiety. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and of course watching the LSU Tigers do their thang!
Jennifer joined Fontenot Family Dentistry in March of 2015. She completed the Dental Assisting program at Acadiana Area Career College in 2006, after graduating high school in 2005. She worked as a dental assistant for many years prior to taking on this position. She enjoys helping our patients with anything they may need. She has a passion for Dentistry and enjoys learning new ideas to help our new practice grow. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys going to the movies, visiting her family in Arkansas, and spending time with her husband, their son, and two dogs Bella and Apollo!
Mckenzie joined Fontenot Family Dentistry in October of 2015. She is certified in CPR and expanded duties. She has taken courses in sedation that she applies to the office in making sure our patients are extra comfortable. She strives in giving our patients the best care possible! Mckenzie and her husband enjoy spending time together with family and friends. Outside of the office, she enjoys shopping, working out, and spending time with her new niece Meredith Kate!
Mel joined Dr. Fontenot and his team in July of 2015 after graduating from LSU school of Dentistry. She was one of six selected students from the Lafayette satellite program. She received Lafayette’s Outstanding Student Award, The Irma Miner Scholarship, Who’s Who among Students in American University Colleges, and The Golden Scaler Award. Mel is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. She also participates in many community activities. She enjoys attending Special Smiles every year associated with the Special Olympics in Carencro. Her roots are in the heart of her favorite and home town city, Carencro. Mel loves building relationships with her patients while providing the best oral hygiene care. When not in the office, Mel enjoys working out, shopping, makeup, and spending time with family!
Tanner joined Fontenot Family Dentistry in May of 2016. She completed the Dental Assisting program at Acadiana Area Career College shortly after graduating from Teurlings Catholic High School. She really enjoys greeting our patients and making sure they enjoy their dental experience with us. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Although she loves Louisiana, she is a huge Alabama fan. Roll Tide!
